It’s finally February Half-Term! With the little terrors off school for a week, we’ve created our top ten activities for things to do on a budget this half-term.
Keep the kids entertained for low cost with our ten cheap activities below:
1. Bake a cake
Get inspiration for fun cupcake ideas together on Pinterest or recipe books, before heading out to the shops and filling up your basket with the essentials to make a cake. Plus a few extra fun decorations of course.
Roll up your sleeves, grab an apron and make your creations together before enjoying them fresh from the oven.
2. Go for a family walk
Grab the wellies and raincoats before heading out for a walk in the great outdoors. Don’t forget to stop to splash in the puddles.
3. Lookout for deals on family days out
Sites like Wowcher and Groupon are two of the best places to find deals on days out, so keep an eye out.
4. Make a bucket list of places you want to see in the UK
We’re often so wrapped up in holidaying abroad that we often forget about visiting some of the famous sites here in the UK. Once you’ve made your bucket list, hit the road and don’t forget to take a camera to capture the stunning sites.
5. Go swimming at your local leisure centre
Swimming is a great low-cost way to spend an hour or two and the kids love it!
6. Keep an eye out for local craft workshops
Many craft shops will run low-cost workshops over the school holidays, so keep an eye out on social media for any deals in your area.
7. Hunt down meal deals
Lots of supermarkets and large chains often offer kids to eat for free, so find the best deal and treat yourselves to a cheap meal out.
8. Try out Geocaching
A modern twist on hide and seek, Geocaching is great fun and a good way to get the kids outdoors. Use your phone to find co-ordinates of secret hidden boxes and leave your own mark behind in a logbook.
9. Make a scrap book
Print off family photos and make a family scrap book together.
10. Enjoy a movie day
Snuggle up on the sofa, grab a DVD, make some popcorn and enjoy a movie day together
